Located in the County of Northampton, Northamptonshire is located in the East Midland region of England. This is an area where motorsports, in particular, are very popular, and there are many destinations for automotive racing enthusiasts to visit in Northamptonshire. As stated before, motorsports are very popular in Northamptonshire and there are numerous activities for visitors to take part in when passing through this ceremonial county. Silverstone Race Course is a popular destination with tourist and residents alike and houses the popular British Grand Prix, which has been held yearly since 1987. In addition to the British Grand Prix, numerous other racing events are held here throughout the year. Silverstone also offers driver coaching and the opportunity for visitors to drive their track, if they book in advance. There are several other raceway and motor tracks in the area of Northamptonshire including Santa Pod Raceway, Towcester Racecourse, and Motor Racing Live.

There are several other sports attractions in the area. Oxford Delta Force is the most well-known paintball centers in the area and offers not only a safe environment, but also, the equipment for a fun and adventurous day of paintball fun. Whilton Mill Karting offers not only go-kart riding but also clay pigeon shooting trials and quad vehicle experiences. Laser Zone is as fun for the kids as it is for the adults and is affordable and open to host parties.

Museums and Shopping

As mentioned before, you don’t need to be into sports to enjoy a day out in Northamptonshire; there are several museums located within the area. The Northampton Museum and Art Gallery pulls double duty – chronicling the local history of the area. The main attraction in this museum is the shoe exhibition, as Northamptonshire was once a main producer of shoes! Located on a stretch of the Great Union Canal, The Canal Museum offers not only a trove of information about the UK waterways but also several interactive displays.

Those who view shopping as a sport will enjoy spending time at the unique Brackley Antique Cellar, where one of a kind finds can be scooped up for bargain prices. Glendon Lodge Complex is small shopping complex located in Northamptonshire, but still has a lot to offer. Glendon Lodge offers free parking and is currently adding more shops to its repertoire. Whether it’s catching a racing event, shopping for antiques, or learning about the history of shoes, Northamptonshire is certainly a unique place to visit.
