Midlothian is one of the thirty-two council areas of Scotland and was formerly known as Edinburghshire. There are a variety of activities for those who are visiting the area to do.

Golfing Attractions

Midlothian is the home to several different golf courses. Vogrie County Park is probably one of the most popular golfing facilities in the area and also functions as a park, as the name implies. Here, visitors can not only play a game of golf, but they can also walk one of several trails present in the park and take in views of the local flora and fauna. There is also a play park on the premises for younger children and a miniature railway. Vogrie County Park closes at dusk and is free to enter, with only a one pound charge for car parking. This park is a good choice for those looking to have a family-friendly outing.

Kings Acre Golf Course is another popular option and caters more toward those who want a strictly golfing experience. Owned by the King family for over two generations, Kings Acre Golf Course is a par 70, 18-hole course that was designed by Scottish designer Graham Webster. This course also offers an academy where golfers can go to hone their skill set. The clubhouse on the premises offers food and drink to the patrons as well as a pro shop.
